There's only now, there's only here

Luther and Gordon are twin brothers - identical twins as a matter of fact, though you can generally tell them apart by their manner of dress. Luther's usually wearing a ragged, worn hoodie and sweatpants, Gordon more well-tailored clothes, though most of them from thrift stores. They're fairly tall, kind of pale, have hazel eyes and blond hair that's so light that it's practically white.

Give in to love or live in fear

Luther and Gordon moved to New York at about the same time, right after they graduated high school. Gordon was going to school there - Columbia - and Luther just followed him because he had no idea what he wanted to do with his life, and New York seemed as good a place as any to figure it out. They'd been living in the city for about a year when, quite by accident, Luther kind of outed his brother to their family. Their family cut Gordon off and stopped speaking to him. Gordon stopped speaking to Luther, and has refused to ever since then. Gordon dropped out of college, no longer able to afford it, and ended up in a tiny apartment in the East Village. Luther ended up a junkie on the streets of Alphabet City, and after a while started dealing drugs just to get enough money to eat and survive.

Gordon was diagnosed as HIV+ - he had already been somewhat cynical and straightforward, but that made him even more blunt and fatalistic; the doctor originally told him he had less than a year to live. That was over four years ago, but he still doesn't hold out much hope for the future, and he's been getting sicker lately, nothing big, just little things, the opportunistic infections that are really just the beginning of the end. Meanwhile... Luther had been living with a girl, Sophie - he met her on the streets, kind of adopted her, inadvertently fell in love with her, and she moved in with him when he finally managed to find a place to live. Sophie ODed about two years ago, which left Luther alone, again, and more alienated than ever. Now he's living with his sometime-friend, sometime-lover, Cecily (Lee), but he's still kind of distant and unattached, and Gordon hasn't been really close to anyone since he was diagnosed, hasn't let himself get all that close to anyone, despite going to Life Support meetings weekly.

I'm a New Yorker - fear's my life

Their room in the inn is just like the room they shared as teenagers. There are two dressers, a desk they shared (and now Gordon only ever uses), and bunk beds. It's rather messy too - Luther's fault, not Gordon's. No matter how often Gordon tries to pick it up, as soon as he leaves, it returns to its previous state of disarray, even if Luther hasn't been in there. If anyone ever gets invited in, there are probably lots of embarrassing teenager stuff to find in drawers and under the bed...
